12 Games of Christmas 2018
Happy New Year everyone! As I write this it is officially 2019, which is kind of exciting and also kind of terrifying (I’m going to turn 30 soon, *gulp*). So rather than face an uncertain future just yet, I’ve put together a quick post to collect together the 12 Games of Christmas videos I made for the Youtube channel and comprehensively forgot to share on here. Hey, it’s technically 12th night this weekend which I assume is what the song is referring to in the first place!
What were my criteria?
1) These should be games that, broadly speaking, should be playable with your family. In recognition of the wide range of families that exist out there I did put in one or two heavier games as well as one or two games that might suit younger kids. This is not a purely ‘best games of 2018’ list, else there would probably have been a lot more Brass involved…
2) Games should have been released from around Essen last year up until about Essen this year. I still haven’t played most big games that came out at Essen 2018 so it seems daft at this point of the year to even try and claim a true ‘best of 2018’ list. So most were released (or in a couple of cases, re-released) earlier this year, with a couple from the end of 2017 to round things out!
3) I had to have played the game. This eliminated some games (Everdell, Azul 2 etc) that might well have been recommended otherwise. Drop a comment with your favourites!
How did I order them?
Mostly by how well I could make them fit the song… There’s really not much more logic to it than that! Certainly not by preference.
