Creaking Shelves is currently on hiatus and we are not accepting review copies for the foreseeable future
What kind of games do we review?
We’ll try anything once but do bear in mind the kind of games we tend to play before contacting us. Anything requiring a significant investment of time (RPGs, heavy war games, collectible card games are examples) to get a good feel for the game are probably beyond us. Check out the Games page to see what games we’ve covered previously on the site. We do accept Kickstarter prototypes for preview. Always feel free to contact us before sending anything. It never hurts to ask!
Review Policy
Opinions (and reviews) of games will be the same whether you have sent us a copy or whether we have handed over our own hard-earned cash for it. Don’t expect any special treatment!
We do not charge for game reviews.
Please allow 3-6 weeks after we receive your game for us to play and review your game. This time will vary depending on the length and complexity of the game, current workload and personal commitments. We play games and run this site in our spare time so your understanding is appreciated!
If there is a special deadline (major convention, Kickstarter campaign etc.) that you would like our review in time for, then let us know when you contact us and we will see what we can do. Bear in mind the expected review times above.
If your game is an upcoming Kickstarter project, please ensure you send us a fully playable prototype. It is in your interest to make clear to us what elements you are hoping to improve/expand upon so we can make that clear in the preview article!
In addition to the “Thoughts on…” article we will write, we shall also publicise our article via our social media accounts.
